Within this blog post I will be explaining the self-promotional image posters I have constructed using Adobe photoshop.
Firstly, my thought process was to create a 60’s styled poster as back in the 60’s photographs were primarily black and white. This first poster is primarily all about who I am which is shown by half of my head being created by my name using a masking tool. In addition my birth date on the far right of the poster with my birth place on the top of the poster. Lastly a quote from an animated series character called “Dr. Reveck/Singed” which reads “Loneliness is often a byproduct of a gifted mind” (Villains Wiki, 2021). This quote really took effect on me as it is quite relatable with the loneliness and gifted mind aspect in my life.
On the other hand, I have created a drop shadow on the quote to make it stand out more. With the addition of a bold dark grey font in front of the “noise” filter I created as my background to give it that 60’s film grain texture. Lastly I used a “Sketch” filter on my face to create yet another old styled aesthetic to make it look as if the camera quality was in par of the 60’s.
First of all, my thought process within the second poster was to create a simple but effective poster, and to use words with a quote to describe my favourite genre of video games (horror). The quote; “YOU WILL WITNESS TRUE HORROR” (Villains Wiki, n.d) is from a video game character called “Malenia” which inspires me to become a horror based graphic designer because of her cold and terrifying attitude which I want to implement within my work. I decided to support the quote with the words “Dread” and “Terror” as they perfectly describe her as she is feared by many people among the “Elden Ring” community. Finally, I used 3D materials to create the two huge words, in addition I used a drop shadow within the quote to make it pop out more and a layer of the poster to make the poster look like its floating so the users eyes shift to the centre of the screen.
