Requirements Gathering and Analysis

Within TwitchCon’s website they state that anyone under the ages of 13 may not attend even with parental supervision, however ages from 16 and under require a parental figure to attend, and to conclude ages 17 and over can attend the event without supervision. An event such as TwitchCon is enjoyed by many ages but primarily from the ages of 16-24 by a huge 41% and ages of 25-34 by a 32% margin meaning that 73% of the attendees would be around the ages of 16-34 (Business of apps). These statistics led to the decision that my festival will have the target audience from 16-34 with a main focus on 16-24.

Based of research I have conducted, I have placed different stakeholders into an interest/power grid which can be seen bellow.

A users core needs from websites such as the TwitchCon website should have different settings/information for/about people that may have a disability or visual impairments. To meet users core needs the website should include different colour options and information on how people with disabilities may access the premises, which would solve a lot of users accessibility concerns.

To understand TwitchCon better, a HTA (Hierarchical Task Analysis) has been created which can be shown bellow.

Based of the HTA I have created I have found negative things from the TwitchCon website. Firstly, the website does not have different colour options for the visually impaired. Secondly, the information listed on the website doesn’t prepare the user of what to bring with them selves. Lastly the website does not have a search engine.

Five personas have been created with their journey maps side by side based on the user research which can be viewed bellow.

Once the website is complete the success for my designs would include things like having working purchasable tickets, having an options menu for the visually impaired and an information section for people with disabilities and how they can have the best time without getting lost.

One assumption about my festival would be that anyone will be able to access the premises no matter what visual impairment/disability you may have. Another would be that my website would clearly state what is needed for the event in the information section.

Finally, throughout the user journey maps and personas I have gained information on how to create a successful website or mobile application. This will be done simply by following a User Centred Design which will be done by analysing the users experience on other websites and incorporate the positives within my website to make it more user friendly and successful.

The 5 games listed on my user personas can all be viewed within (Steam).
